ViPEC

whilst a fairly new name in the aftermarket ECUs arena
are getting very good feedback about their products
which seem to be very capable computers on specs and in use.

They now have available replacement insert ECU boards.

Importantly for us
they have these available for the Rev1 SW20(89-11/91) and the Rev3(Gen3 engine)

The original motherboard and connector are removed from the ECU case, and the ViPEC motherboard and connector, clips or screws into the case.

The original harness plugs in and the job is done, no wiring and all original sensors are used. External view of ECU case and connector is unchanged from its stock appearance.

Most plug-in ViPEC ECUs have an internal 2.5 bar map sensor or optional 7 bar map sensor that can also be used for higher boost capability.

External map sensors like stock are also supported.
As you would expect the ViPEC allows full control over fuel, ignition timing, boost pressure and all other engine functions.

All boards have QuickTune software and optional Anti-lag.

This is a very attractive package with the stock appearance.

That's quite awesome. Is it a fully programmable ECU though? Cos its not real useful otherwise

Its the full V44 spec

so yes fully programmable

You could configure it to run another car using the pinout diagrams and stock wiring connector to put the correct wires where they need to go
Obviously needing adjustment to suit all the new sensors it is using.
Someone put a WRX one on an EVO.

Interesting. The 3S-GTE one ought to be useful for a 3S-GE then

No I don't

I spoke to the ViPEC guys at Superlap
the V88 I think they said was between $2000-2500 which is ballpark Haltech PS2000,Adaptronic e1280s price range.
so I'd expect that the plug-in (V44 spec)  to be in the $1500-2000 range

i got a price on the drop in borad and it was approx 1800 with the expansion pack. about 1650 without.

in the end i wen with the haltech just because i like to run new wires and not rely on the old fragile loom and my tuner was familiar with the haltech.

if i wasn't staring a new engine build and was just gonna go bolt ons etc i prob would've gone the vipec tho
